File Printing in Croydon
The best format to present files for printing is pdf (Portable Document Format). Not only does this format give the originator of the file an accurate view of how the file will print it can also contain the font information required for printing. If you don’t have a pdf maker on your computer you can download a free version from Cutepdf.com. We are happy to print files in other formats such as Word, Excel, Publisher and jpg but the results are not as reliable and added expense can be incurred.
Margins & Bleed For File Printing
Margins
Always leave an adequate margin between text and the edge of the paper. Not only does text at the edge of the paper look awful, there is a good chance that bits of text will be cut off when the job is trimmed, particularly if the job needs bleed. For a business card leave at least 5mm margin. For an A5 page leave at least 10mm margin. For an A4 page leave at least 15mm margin.
Bleed
It is not possible to print to the edge of a sheet of paper. If this effect is required we print on oversize paper and trim the job down to size after printing. An image that is wanted at the edge of the paper must be printed beyond the finished edge. This is called “bleed”. Please read our leaflet “Tips for Bleed and Margins.”
